A great start is to reflect on the past—what went well, what didn’t, and what you want for the coming year. This practice not only aids in setting clear goals but also helps in overcoming self-limiting beliefs and unlocking your creative potential.

A Short Reflective Exercise

If you want to tackle self-limiting beliefs, try this quick exercise.
Set aside 20 minutes, grab a notebook, and answer these questions honestly. Don’t worry about editing—just let your thoughts flow:

  • How do I feel my writing went in 2024?
  • What were my biggest creative wins?
  • When did I get stuck?
  • What did I learn from that?
  • What are my SMART writing goals for 2025?
    (SMART = Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound)

By answering these questions, you can uncover self-limiting beliefs that may be holding you back. Once identified, you can begin the process of overcoming self-limiting beliefs and set a clear path for success in the new year.

Journaling lets me face my fears and see that they are just thoughts—not unchangeable truths. Additionally, meditation helps calm my mind and bring a sense of self-compassion. Consequently, these simple practices empower me to move forward, even when doubt is strong. In turn, they become powerful tools for overcoming self-limiting beliefs.
